As part of our project, we were asked to choose a fashion house as an inspiration for our collection, and to create five collages that represent the aesthetic design of said fashion house.

I chose the house of Balenciaga. One of Cristobal Balenciaga’s major inspirations was  the Spanish renaissance, he incorporated references from Spanish art into his designs. It was also common to find beautiful and chic flowers that bloomed in Balenciaga’s clothes. Balenciaga was a very religious man, and drew a lot of inspiration from the Catholic Church. Balenciaga was known for creating avant-garde structural pieces and his most important contribution to the world of fashion was a new silhouette for women.

Today, the brand is best known for its tendency to create garments that are unisex with a fusion of sport.
